NONLINEAR FREE VIBRATION OF RECTANGULAR PLATE BY A MODIFIED MULTIPLE SCALE METHOD

چکیده مقاله
In the present research, the nonlinear free vibration of a rectangular simply supported plate is investigated analytically using a modified Multiple Time Scales method for the first time. For considering large transverse deflections, Von Karman-type nonlinear strain-displacement relation is used. The extended Hamilton principle and classical plate theory are used to derive these partial differential equations of motions. By applying Galerkin method, the nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into time dependent nonlinear ordinary differential equations which are solved analytically by a general Multiple Time Scales method. The technique is a new form of the classical multiple time scales method. Their formulations and their determination of the solution procedure are very easy and straightforward. The results of this paper are compared with both the published data and multiple time scales method, and good agreements are found.The effect of vibration amplitude on the nonlinear to linear frequency ratio has been investigated.
