The importance with accurate estimation of modal parameters has produced a wide range of methods to identify these parameters in recent decades. These methods have been based on a wide variety of experimental equipment and numerical methods. Using contactless methods in vibro-acoustics has within itself developed into a research area in recent years. These methods have had their advantages and disadvantages. This is the subject of this work. This paper presents considerations on modal analysis based on acoustical excitation and response as innovative techniques. As a simple example, by using acoustic excitation, the acoustic response of a rectangular clamped aluminium plate has been studied experimentally to identify the natural frequencies of the plate. By implementing Fast Fourier Transform operation (FFT) and Singular Value Decomposition of spectral matrix (SVD) of the both vibration and acoustic responses, the natural frequencies of the plate have been determined. As a result, the possibilities of the method and its considerations have been demonstrated in the paper.
